the home stretch....

So I haven’t done any better at keeping up with the blog but here is an update of what’s been going on. We are now 38 weeks 5 days, in month 9. I can’t believe that we have only 9 days until our due date. This baby girl could make her debut at any time now! I’m getting kind of anxious about things, not so much about the labor and delivery, more about having the responsibility of taking care of this tiny life. I am just hoping that motherly instinct sets in and I catch on to things quickly.

We have had two baby showers that were both so amazing!! Our baby girl is so spoiled and loved already. My cousin Kayla hosted the shower on the McGahee/Owens side of the family, and Judy and Diane friends of Mark’s Nana hosted the shower on the Sims side. We now have everything that Charlie Belle will need, at least for awhile. We are so incredibly blessed to have so many people that love and support us.

I am now going to the doctor once a week for our checkups. Things have been going pretty great, my blood pressure has went up just a little but nothing to worry about for now.. they say that it is just a little high for me. They are checking my blood platelets regularly to make sure they stay in the normal range, which they are. Charlie Belle is still growing and being very active. Last week they let me know that she is head down now, but I’m not dilated at all yet. I go back on Tuesday and we are doing an ultrasound to see how big she is and just to check on things.

The nursery is FINISHED finally!! It is the perfect little girls nursery, I’m so in love with it!

We found the perfect bedding at Carousel Designs. I made the mobile out of a wire wreath, fabric, fishing line, and stones and pearls. My parents bought us our amazing glider from Bellini Baby Furniture. Her furniture came from a store in Atlanta called New Baby Products. We found the lamp at Hobby Lobby. The light fixture came from Home Depot, it was gold to start out, and we painted it a sparkly silver. We found fabric for the curtains at Forsyth Fabrics, and our cousin, Pat, made them. We are so thankful for her and the beautiful job she did. I wanted a Glitter wall, (which you can't see how amazing it looks in these pictures as it does in person) and my amazing husband figured out a way to make it happen. He made his own paint mixture of wall paper paste and craft glitter, and put multiple coats of paint on the wall until it was glittery enough for me. It is PERFECT!!!

Third Trimester

We are officially in our third trimester. In the past eight weeks so many things have happened. Our baby girl has grown so much and gotten so strong. The first time I felt her kick was the most amazing feeling ever. It really makes your heart melt when you feel that tiny little flutter, it really makes everything that much more real. Now those tiny flutters are strong kicks and punches. She is a very active baby, she rolls around and changes positions at all times of the day. My belly is constantly jumping from all of her movements. She is extremely stubborn though, just like her mama, every time I try to let someone feel her moving she immediately stops.

All of my doctor’s appointments have been going great, I love hearing Charlie Belle’s heartbeat each time. The visits have all been just routine checkups, except my last which was when I had my Glucose Tolerance Test. I had heard a ton of horror stories about this test, and I was very surprised at how easy it was. The drink was not bad at all, I chose fruit punch and it tasted like a Hawaiian punch that had a little too much syrup. Mark went with me so I had company while waiting for the hour to be up. It was no big deal at all.
We have still been working on Charlie Belle’s nursery... its so close to being finished. Paint is done, furniture is all here, and we have all the bedding.  All we have left to do is get a new light fixture, get curtains, and a few wall decorations.
